At Summit Ridge Academy, we offer a comprehensive, evidence-based, and structured approach to literacy learning. Our program is grounded in scientific research, providing a systematic method for acquiring literacy skills.
To begin, we conduct a thorough assessment that identifies your child's strengths and areas needing improvement. Based on these results, we create an individualized program tailored to your child's developmental level and aligns with the Ontario Curriculum Expectations.
Our lessons are designed to be engaging, interactive, and accessible to all students. This not only facilitates quick learning but also helps build confidence, allowing students to integrate the acquired skills into their school environment.

Remedial math
Grades 1–8 · After school & weekends · One-to-one instruction
Students will receive personalized remedial math sessions with a certified educator, using both mastered and addressing challenging mathematical concepts. A comprehensive assessment will identify learning gaps. The program aims to enhance confidence by focusing on foundational skills, utilizing hands-on, multi sensory methods and manipulatives.
Students will explore problem-solving strategies, using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, with emphasis on math vocabulary. Aligned with the Ontario curriculum, the content meets students at their developmental level while progressing toward grade-level expectations, complementing in class, school learning.

Executive Functions - Keys to Success (Middle School)
This game-based 8-session course introduces students to executive functions and the role they play at home and at school. Students will discover their own strengths and needs with executive functions, and will learn tools and strategies to help set them up for success at school and beyond.
Executive Functions - Keys to Success (High School)
This activity-based 8-session course introduces students to executive functions and the role they play at school, home and beyond. Through SMART goal setting and creating action plans, students will learn tools and strategies to help them face academic challenges with confidence.
Middle School Study Skills
Learn effective study techniques that actually help remember and apply what you've learned. Discover how to approach different test questions and understand how to plan a study schedule for different tasks. Explore a variety of tools and strategies that can help make studying an active habit that results in academic improvement and understanding.
High School Study Skills
Learn how to prepare for tests, quizzes, exams and summative assignments. Discover the different types of questions you encounter in tests and how to approach a variety of academic tasks with a confident plan and a toolkit of strategies that will serve students beyond high school.

Which tutoring services are available in Oakville?
Summit Ridge Academy offers structured literacy, remedial math, executive-function and study-skills courses, and educational consulting. Literacy and math tutoring are for Grades 1–8; selected skills courses support middle-school and high-school learners. Ask us about the right starting point for your child.
How do you identify a child’s literacy or math needs?
Our literacy programme begins with an assessment of the child’s strengths and areas for improvement. Remedial math also uses an assessment to identify learning gaps. These findings help us plan instruction at the student’s developmental level while working towards Ontario Curriculum expectations.
What does structured literacy tutoring cover?
Structured literacy supports reading, writing and spelling through explicit, systematic instruction. Sessions are individualized, engaging and aligned with the Ontario Curriculum, with learning activities chosen to address each student’s strengths and areas of need.
How is remedial math support personalized?
Remedial math focuses on foundational concepts and the gaps identified through assessment. Students use hands-on, multisensory activities and manipulatives, alongside problem-solving strategies and math vocabulary, to build understanding and confidence.
Can you use my child’s IEP or psychoeducational report?
We incorporate recommendations from school-generated IEPs and psychoeducational assessments into learning support. Our educational consulting service can also help families understand assessment results, review reports and prepare for or participate in school meetings.
What do executive-function and study-skills courses cover?
Executive-function courses introduce tools for understanding strengths and needs, setting goals and developing action plans. Study-skills courses address study schedules, effective learning techniques and approaches to tests and assignments. We offer different courses for middle-school and high-school students.
