Our Story
My name is Carrie Smith and I am a special education teacher with over 23 years experience. I am also a mom to children with needs. I understand the difficulties students and their families face when supporting their children through the education system. When there are learning challenges involved, this can be even more stressful.
At Summit Ridge Academy, we support all learners from Kindergarten to Grade 8 and help them reignite their passion for learning while supporting their overall well being and success as a student.

Structured & Explicit Literacy - Grades 1-8
(One to One Instruction)
We understand the importance of your child's proficiency in reading, writing, and spelling. At Summit Ridge Academy, we offer a comprehensive, evidence-based, and structured approach to literacy learning. Our program is grounded in scientific research, providing a systematic method for acquiring literacy skills.
To begin, we conduct a thorough assessment that identifies your child's strengths and areas needing improvement. Based on these results, we create an individualized program tailored to your child's developmental level and aligns with the Ontario Curriculum Expectations.
Our lessons are designed to be engaging, interactive, and accessible to all students. This not only facilitates quick learning but also helps build confidence, allowing students to integrate the acquired skills into their school environment.

Remedial Math -
Grades 1-8
(One to One Instruction)
Students will receive personalized remedial math sessions with a certified educator, using both mastered and addressing challenging mathematical concepts. A comprehensive assessment will identify learning gaps. The program aims to enhance confidence by focusing on foundational skills, utilizing hands-on, multi sensory methods and manipulatives.
Students will explore problem-solving strategies, using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, with emphasis on math vocabulary. Aligned with the Ontario curriculum, the content meets students at their developmental level while progressing toward grade-level expectations, complementing in class, school learning.
Educational Consulting
Helping families navigate the Education System and Public Financial Support
We offer expert guidance for navigating the Education System and accessing Public Financial Support. We offer insights into IPRC Meetings, IEPs, and government support.
Our services include reviewing psych-ed reports, attending school meetings to advocate for your child, and explaining Psycho Educational Assessment results. If you are interested please visit our Registration Inquiry Page.
